Hand-spun, handwoven textile adored with a shibori moon ~ hand stitched, tied and dyed with plant indigo from Mother Nature.
Many small stitches create the map for a piece of stitched shibori. Each stitch, a meditation. Step by step, a small stitch becomes part of something greater than itself. Every step of the process holds beauty, lessons and reminders of patience and possibility.
The final result is planned, but it is always a unique + exquisite surprise.
Created as an intention for your home and heart; be it hanging on your wall, adorning your dining table where you gather, or warming your meditation or alter space. A sacred piece of cloth that reminds you of what is true, that creation takes time, and that beauty abounds.
Process: hand stitched, tightly bound and tied, dyed several times in plant indigo.
Fibre: handspun, handwoven organic cotton
Details: 20” x 20” square textile
Fragments of the Moon - This series was inspired by the sliver of night sky seen from my cabin in the woods, surrounded and held by tall western cedars and douglas fir trees. Each night I step outside to search for the radiant moon - often times she hides behind the clouds, though sometimes I am gifted the sight of a fragment of her lighting up the night sky.
